Tony Daltoso is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) located in Vancouver WA.
Greeting Ya’ll,
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington.
I specialize in treating shame, emotional dysregulation, and relationships issues.
I tend to work with men who are in a long term relationship with their wife or girlfriend or partner.
I look at my clients as competent individuals who merely need to overcome the same obstacles all human beings are prone to at one time or another.
I incorporate elements of CBT, Psychodynamic, Interpersonal and Narrative Therapy approaches into my counseling. But most of the time my counseling will appear to be a simple conversation about my client’s life.
Often Individuals seek counseling when overwhelmed by powerful emotion. The key to conquering this overwhelming emotion is to recognize it as the information that it is, a valid warning or caution sign advising you how to prepare and respond to a challenge. I help my clients every day to interpret this suggestion, then help them prepare to tackle the challenge and support them in taking action to do so.

What past client's say about Tony
Friendly and kind, Tony is a good listener who worked with me to clarify my needs. He helped me learn the told to understand myself, my beliefs, and my emotions in a way I hadn't before. Working with him has made me a better parent, partner and a happier person. He shared his knowledge with me in a way that I could understand and the information opened my eyes to better ways of how I deal with things." Tony helped me get my life back on track. I came in not knowing how to handle my emotions and past life experiences. Now I have the tools to manage different stresses and maintain a healthy emotional balance." |
I really appreciated and admired Tony and the way he was able to relate and interact with my son. He was compassionate and understanding and provided a safe healthy environment for my son. I felt he ticked on pertinent topics and gave excellent insight . He greatly helped my son with coping mechanisms that I have seen my kiddo use after our counseling was completed. "
Questions Tony gets asked a lot (FAQs)
How long have you been a counselor?
I have been working as a counselor since 2010. I have been a fully licensed counselor since January of 2013.
But I have been a know-it-all walking encyclopedia of psychological advice listening to people's problems for over 30 years.
But I have been a know-it-all walking encyclopedia of psychological advice listening to people's problems for over 30 years.
Do you have a specialty?
I specialize in treating shame, emotional dysregulation, and relationships issues. This is what the majority of my training and experience has been in. My real interest is in helping my client's to make their emotions work for them instead of against them, and this is a focal point of much of my work with clients.
How do I know you are legit?
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. You can look me up on the WA State DOH Provider Credential Search Page. Being a Licensed Counselor means I have met specific requirements for education, supervised experience, and that I actually passed the National Counselor Exam, You can see my License and where I went to College on the About Tony page.
why should you be my counselor?
A great question. When selecting a counselor there are lots of factors to consider. The counselor's education? Do they have Experience working with people like you? Do they take your insurance? Do you even want to bother with insurance? Are they close by? Do they work with kids? But one of the most important things is fit. Feeling comfortable and compatible with your counselor predicts more successful outcomes in counseling. So peruse the rest of the website and see what you think of me. I may not be your cup of tea. That is OK. There is a counselor out there that is a great fit for you.
What is thinks i've thunk?
I have had a blog for years and years. In fact I may have invented the blog. Long before the internet I would write stuff in a note book and pass it around to all my friends to share. Even then, I have always called what I write Thinks I've Thunk. It's not exactly "topical" in that I would write about anything that might be on my mind (hence the name Thinks I've Thunk), but I like the name and it has some good stuff on it that shows my personality. You could say that blog is my alter ego (emphasis on the EGO) and I reserve the right to plausible deniability for anything posted on Thinks I've Thunk. I like it and want people to read it. So I hope you enjoy it.
So what exactly is a "Sad Panda"?
I have no idea. My friend Mac called me that at work. I assume it is a reference to my mystic aura of ancient wisdom reminiscent of the misty Tibetan highlands of the orient that the majestic Panda calls home. Mac and my co-workers said a lot of weird things about me. You can see more of the weird things they said about me here.

What is with all the stuff you like from the 90's? You only look about 15 YEARS old.
Yeah, I get the 15 years old thing all the time. What can I say, I bath regularly in the Fountain of Youth and the on occasion the blood of the innocent. JUST KIDDING (on both accounts).
The truth, however hard to believe, is that I actually was born in the 80's. So I did a lot of living in the 90's. And I stopped watching TV circa 2005, so in a lot of ways I am still living in the 90s.

So what is the difference between Counseling , coaching and Consulting?
That's a great question and you can find a good explanation to that here. And you can take a quiz to find out which one you need here.
What exactly is ALignbacker?
Like any business enterprise, I have to have an officially licensed corporation that is registered with the state and IRS for tax purposes.
Alignbacker LLC is the name of my business. I have my own name, Tony Daltoso, registered as a trade name, because in my line of work it is always preferable to know you are working with real people not faceless corporations. I actually like the name a lot. It sounds like a football player, so it's aggressive and powerful. But It also evokes becoming an ally of people and backing them up to support them. I think that is a good description of what I do for my clients.
